Frequently Asked Questions

How does Humentic work?

Humentic brings together small groups of people in facilitator-led sessions to build skills for mental wellbeing and personal growth

In each group:

  • Sessions are 60 minute online video sessions
  • Small groups of 6-8 people are matched together based on their needs and goals
  • Every minute is led by a qualified mental health expert or a fully-accredited, experienced coach
How is this different from online support groups?

Humentic offers group sessions that are facilitated by qualified experts - either a trained mental health practitioner or certified and experienced coaches. The sessions are designed to be interactive and focus on members learning and applying new skills - often with particular goals in mind.

By comparison, online support groups are informal and focus on helping members cope. They often don’t have the same level of structure and supervision.

How is this different from therapy?

Although some of our sessions are facilitated by licensed therapists and psychologists, Humentic groups do not provide psychological treatment or therapy.

Many of our tools and techniques are grounded in the same evidence-based techniques used in different therapies, such as CBT, ACT or mindfulness based therapies.

Humentic can be a great complement to individual therapy.

When should you try a group vs. individual coaching or therapy?

Humentic groups are a great entry point for people who are interested in or curious about therapy or coaching - whether or not you’ve tried it before.

Groups offer unique benefits including:

  • Learning and hearing multiple perspectives from peers who have similar experiences and face relatable challenges
  • Connecting and feeling a sense of belonging with others who understand what you are going through
  • A safe space to express yourself freely without fear of judgment.
  • Creating self awareness, as problems and solutions voiced in the group provide insights into your own situation
  • Building motivation, as seeing how others face their struggles can inspire you to make changes
  • Accountability and encouragement to practice and maintain the skills learned in the group
How much time will I get to talk in each session?

Our facilitators ensure that everyone gains something valuable from each session, whether that is:

  • Taking the lime-light in the group in discussions with the facilitator
  • Working on applying techniques and exercises in smaller groups
  • Getting insight through listening to others share experiences

You will benefit as much from listening and participating, as from speaking.

Sessions are designed to be interactive and engaging for all members. While you are encouraged to share and be vulnerable to get the most out of sessions, some members feel more comfortable doing more listening in the beginning.

Who is this for?

Humentic is available to people who are:

  • 18 years and over
  • Interested in growing their emotional resilience and other skills for better mental health

We believe everyone can use some support for their emotional wellbeing, whether they:

  • Are seeking to build resilience and improve some aspect of their emotional and mental lives, without knowing exactly what they need
  • Recognise they are going through a difficult period and could use some support
  • Looking for something on top of other individual therapy or coaching

Humentic is not a good fit for people seeking psychological treatment for mental health conditions.

Can I pick my group? How do I know I’ll relate to the other Members?

You can pick the group that most appeals to you based on your current needs and goals. We can help you find the right group through the initial introduction call.

Other members in your group are all people who relate to the common theme and goals of the group, and face similar, relatable challenges. This ensures that insights and experiences shared are most relevant for everyone.

If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your group after your first three sessions, it is possible to join another group. Please speak to your facilitator about this.

Can I try a session first before signing up to a group?

We don’t offer free sessions or sessions on a ‘drop-in’ basis. This is as we’ve seen that commitment to working on emotional skills over several weeks gives the best results.

We offer a 100% refund guarantee instead. While we’re confident you’ll love the experience, if you sign up to a group and try 3 sessions, but don’t think it’s for you, we’ll offer you a full refund or the option to change groups.

What kind of therapists and coaches work at Humentic?

All of our therapists are licensed with their relevant professional bodies and are experienced in evidence-based therapy modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Our coaches are all experienced professionals who are carefully vetted. We don’t train our coaches ourselves, but recruit only the highest quality. This includes strong feedback from clients, a minimum of 2 years experience and 100 hours of live coaching.

Will information be kept confidential? Can I be anonymous?

Your facilitator and other group members agree to keep all conversations and interactions private and confidential.

You can raise this and any additional questions about confidentiality during the introduction call.

For the full benefits of our sessions, we encourage you to keep your camera on. However, for some of our groups, you can also join anonymously if you feel more comfortable.
